Album Terbaru Linkin Park : A Thousand Sun

Tepatnya pada tanggal 14 September 2010 lalu, Linkin Park merilis album keempatnya yang berjudul A Thousand Sun atau Seribu Matahari. Tentunya hal ini sudah ditunggu-tunggu oleh jutaan penggemarnya diseluruh dunia. Bukti keantusiasan para penggemarnya dapat dilihat ketika A Thousand Sun masuk pada chart Billboard 200, yang total terjualnya mencapai 241 ribu keping, sesaat setelah dirilis. Menurut review fans mereka di blog masing-masing, ini adalah album Linkin Park terbaik yang pernah mereka buat.

Style and Composition

Berbeda dengan album-album sebelumnya seperti Meteora yang beraliran nu metal atau Minutes to Midnight yang beraliran rock alternatif, album A Thousand Sun menyuguhkan jenis musik yang berbeda. Unsur hip hop dan elektronika terlihat menonjol dalam setiap lagu dalam A Thousand Sun. Meskipun demikian, Linkin Park tidak akan menghilangkan unsur rock dan kekhasan suara Chester Bennington (vokalis) maupun Mike Shinoda (vokal latar/rapper).

Menurut Rob Bourdon (drummer), nama album A Thousand Sun diambil dari definisi sebuah kata-kata Hindu Sanskrit, yaitu Bhagvad Gita. “Artinya kira-kira begini, jika cahaya dari seribu matahari membakar langit dalam satu waktu, itu bisa jadi seperti the splendor of the mighty one." Dengan kata lain, mega dahsyat.

Song Review

The Requiem pada track pertama ditujukan untuk mengenalkan sound baru yang dibuat Linkin Park. Begitu pula lagu lain seperti The Radiance, Empty Spaces, Jornada del Muerto, dan Fallout yang hanya berdurasi kurang lebih 1 menit. Sedangkan Burning in The Skies, yang disebut-sebut sebagai salah satu lagu terbaik dalam A Thousand Sun, dinyanyikan dengan powerful oleh Bennington. Sementara itu, lagu Waiting for The End  memiliki tone yang mirip dengan Meteora.

Sebulan sebelum A Thousand Sun dirilis, single pertama The Catalyst sudah terlebih dahulu keluar sebagai lagu pembuka. Berikut video klip The Catalyst yang disutradarai oleh salah satu anggota Linkin Park, Joseph Hahn (DJ) dengan konsep smoky.  Check this out!
